ABOUT CAPE MAY COUNTY VILLAGE

Cape May County Village began as a project to build one house four years ago and is now a thriving village of 15 families in Bord de Mer, Haiti. When Food for the Poor built Bord de Mer School, we raised funds for tuition, books, uniforms, transportation, and a nutritious meal per day for students.

Housing, education and a sustainable food source are most important in breaking the cycle of poverty in Haiti. Livestock was purchased for each village family, and acreage secured to grow crops.

Located on the northern coast, the Village was spared during the the earthquake of 12 January 2010. But additional residents were welcomed and ongoing needs have grown greater than ever. The Social Justice Committee of Our Lady of the Angels continues to raise funds to feed, educate, and serve the needs of the poor living in Haiti. Over $ 140,000 has been raised since 2006 to improve their lives.
